We have secured planning permission to convert a former Victorian bank into 9 private residential homes at Newington Green, London, for our client Tariro House Ltd.
Front elevation, Newington Green
The striking and elaborately detailed bank building, which has been Locally Listed, was extended in the 1990s via an unsympathetic annex extension. The scheme proposals seek to preserve the character of the former bank building and enhance the surrounding conservation area through visual improvements to the two storey extension.
This involves the re-cladding of the annex using high quality, textured brick and incorporating simple, un-ornamented detailing which does not seek to compete with its neighbour but yet reflects the scale and proportion of the historic building's composition.
Construction work is due to start this month with the anticipated completion date being February 2017.
