Planning Approval granted for first unit at Southend Airport Business Park

Jefferson Sheard Architects have secured Planning Permission for a new 123,000sqft manufacturing facility located at Airport Business Park Southend.

The unit is to be occupied by local employer IPECO, a leading manufacturer in cabin crew and executive passenger seating for commercial airlines. The building provides approximately 29,000sqft of two storey office space and 94,000sqft of warehouse space for its manufacturing operation.

This will be the first commercial development to be built at the Airport Business Park, which has been master planned by Jefferson Sheard Architects and marks a continuing and successful collaboration with our long-standing client Henry Boot Developments. Construction on the project is due to start on site in mid-2019.

Cllr James Courtenay, Cabinet Member for Growth at Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, said: “This is a further milestone in this major local development that will play a leading role in Southend’s economic growth over the coming years. It is also a sign of IPECO’s commitment to growing in Southend and a vote of confidence in our town as a great place to do business. Airport Business Park Southend is crucial to the prosperity of Southend and the wider region, creating jobs, inward investment and new opportunities for local business to expand. I’m delighted to see this development gain planning consent and look forward to seeing IPECO – the development’s first occupier – move to its new home in the not-so-distant future.”
