Jefferson Sheard Architects were appointed to deliver full architectural services on the ward refurbishment at Crawley Hospital by GB Partnerships for NHS Property Services.
Our design seeks to create a modern, high-quality and less ‘institutional’ environment for the inpatient wards within the constraints of the existing building. The ward layouts have been reconfigured to suit healthcare delivery of today with the spaces being ‘dementia friendly’ with improved signage and layout, alongside improved visibility, access and security. Clinical staff at the hospital have played an integral part in the design and development of the new ward layouts.
New automatic glazed doors with integral blinds lead into bedded bays providing Clinical teams with a full view of each space and privacy when needed. The operation of the doors provide touch-free access helping with infection control.
