Facade Remediation Expertise

We have built a strong track record delivering complex recladding and external wall remediation projects, particularly for high-rise residential developments.

We assess and redesign external wall systems to address fire safety risks and compliance issues. This can include removal and replacement of non-compliant materials, redesign of cladding assemblies and improvement of fire stopping systems.

We deliver full cladding removal and replacement strategies, including alternative compliant façade materials and upgrades to existing wall systems. Each solution is carefully designed to ensure compliance, durability and architectural quality to each project.

Our team coordinates the installation or improvement of cavity barriers, fire breaks and fire stopping, ensuring that external wall systems meet current safety standards and comply with the specialist Fire Engineering advice.

Where issues arise from construction defects or material deterioration, we undertake investigation and design targeted remediation works to restore façade integrity and performance.

Navigating the Building Safety Landscape

The regulatory framework surrounding façade safety has evolved significantly following the Building Safety Act and the establishment of the Building Safety Regulator.

Our team remains at the forefront of these changes and supports clients through:

- Compliance with Building Regulations and fire safety requirements

- Coordination with Approved Inspectors and regulators

- Preparation of documentation for Gateway processes

- Collaboration with fire engineers and specialist consultants

- Design solutions that meet current and emerging legislative requirements

By integrating safety considerations from the earliest stages of design, we ensure remediation schemes are robust, compliant and future-proof.

“We have successfully achieved BSR approval in as little as 9 weeks. The Regulatory Lead at BSR commented, this was one of the fastest approvals granted for façade remediation works they had seen, reflecting the quality and clarity of the application submitted by Jefferson Sheard Architects.”

Relevant Project Experience

With a strong track record across a wide range of projects for our established portfolio of housebuilders and developers, Jefferson Sheard Architects have developed significant expertise in façade remediation and fire safety.

Our experience spans the full lifecycle of remediation projects, from detailed investigation and strategic advice through to technical design and delivery. Alongside our architectural and technical services, we also provide expert witness support, adding value through our comprehensive understanding of building performance, regulatory compliance, and construction practice.

We have successfully led façade remediation and fire safety projects across the country. Our portfolio includes schemes along the South Coast, throughout the Midlands, across major cities in the Northern counties, and a significant number of developments within Greater London.

Due to the sensitive nature of many of these projects, and in respect of both our clients and the residents affected, we do not publicly name specific buildings or developments. However, the breadth and geographic spread of our work reflects the trust placed in our team to deliver carefully considered, compliant, and responsible remediation solutions.
