Jefferson Sheard Architects have been appointed by longstanding client, Danehurst Developments, as Executive Architect to deliver an 8-13 storey, 139-bed student accommodation development in Southampton.
The primary structure of the building will utilise off-site modular construction, installed above a first-floor concrete transfer deck. This structure will be enclosed with a rainscreen system made of reconstituted stone, premium fibre cement panels and projecting fins providing solar shading.
The modular construction approach offers several advantages, including factory-quality internal finishes, rapid assembly within a confined site, and certainty in cost and schedule.
Danehurst Development secured Planning Approval in December 2023, and Jefferson Sheard Architects are currently preparing the Gateway 2 Application. The development is due for completion in September 2026.
