Child Development Centre design takes shape

Posted by Jack Bowler Associate

Jefferson Sheard Architects are working with NHS Property Services and gb partnerships to relocate the Child Development Centre (CDC) at Crawley Hospital.

The new facilities have been designed to replace the existing CDC with more spacious modern accommodation for a range of multidiscipline healthcare services for children from birth to 19 years old.

Our approach has been to create a light, engaging and welcoming space focused on making the young patients and their families as comfortable as possible, whilst ensuring the space works for the doctors, nurses and all medical staff. As part of our stakeholder engagement process we have created a VR view to aid the design development by enabling people to immerse themselves in the space. This is a prime example of truly collaborative design development, involving all team members and stakeholders from the outset. By continuing this approach we are confident the final scheme will provide a facility the hospital can be proud of and provide long lasting benefits to its patients and community.
