Jefferson Sheard Architects has been appointed upon Phase 2 of the 2500m² Construction and Engineering Scarborough TEC Campus for the Grimsby Institute Group. The new-build project will support the Institute’s vision of providing employment-focussed professional training in line the Region’s vocational and technical skills requirements.

The Jefferson Sheard designed building will include dedicated facilities for a range of vocational subject areas including Engineering, Motor vehicle, Brickwork, Plumbing, Woodworking, Electrical and Painting and Decorating workshops, whilst also creating a flexible environment conducive to apprenticeship training programmes and other professional qualifications.

Jefferson Sheard’s Director, Phillip Pollington, commented:

“It’s a pleasure to be working with the Grimsby Institute Group once again, this time on a scheme which not only generates opportunity for young people in the area, but stimulates the local economy too. Over the years Jefferson Sheard has specialised in the design of environments to support vocational curricula, often consulting directly with key stakeholder Employers, and we will bring this experience to the fore at Scarborough TEC.”

The project is in its early stages but is set to progress quickly with an anticipated hand over date of Summer 2018.

The commission follows Jefferson Sheard’s successful collaborations in the locality, including the award-winning Beverley Campus for East Riding College, the new Music School and Learning Resource Centre at Hymers College, Hull, and the Operational Fire Stations at Brough and Hull Central for the Humberside Fire and Rescue Service.
