Written by Clare Ailward Regional Director, Manchester

Jefferson Sheard Architects have submitted for planning permission the proposed mixed-use development on Edgware Road, Brent, London. Working with Clients Utility Warehouse Limited, we have designed a scheme comprising of 165 homes arranged over 5 to 20 storeys with 1,322sqm of retail/commercial space and 2 levels of basement car parking for residents.

The residential units will provide a mix of family-sized dwellings and smaller homes combined with an element of affordable housing, appealing to a broad spectrum of potential residents.

The ground floor is dedicated to commercial space, offering business and employment opportunities to the area. This active frontage has been designed in such a way to allow flexibility of use whilst enhancing the public realm at street level for Edgware Road and Windover Avenue. The goal is that this will contribute to providing a catalyst for regeneration in the area of Colindale

Design

In order to enhance both the buildings aesthetic and the living experience of the residents, landscaped shared amenity space and podium courtyard gardens have been incorporated into the design. This includes multiple dedicated children’s play spaces, creating a safe, engaging environment for children of all ages to enjoy.

Jefferson Sheard Architects have played a key role in public consultation, forming a crucial element in the design development process, influencing how we may best approach the factors that matter the most to the local community.
